Ubisoft unveiled a deep-dive video showcasing the detailed systems of 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced' at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase held today (the 7th).
'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced' is a modern reconstruction of the original title. Built on Ubisoft's latest 'Anvil' engine, it features full ray tracing and global illumination, with dynamic day-night cycles and weather effects that impact both land and sea stealth gameplay in real time. The parkour system has also been refined to match the standards of the latest entry, 'Assassin's Creed Shadows'.

The deep-dive video also introduced a new system for recruiting lieutenants, each with their own unique story quests. The new character 'Lucy Baldwin' was highlighted as an example: a shipwright framed for murder and imprisoned, she wants to join Kenway for his help but hesitates due to family complications. Once Kenway helps resolve these issues, she joins the crew, a process that applies to recruiting various other characters.
Following the new systems, the combat mechanics were also discussed. A scene featuring a battle against the British Navy alongside Blackbeard showcased a combat system centered on timing-based parrying rather than counter-based mechanics. Naval combat has also evolved while maintaining the spirit of the original. In particular, the addition of special abilities for recruited lieutenants and real-time weapon switching allows for more dynamic and exhilarating combat. Furthermore, a free-swimming system has been introduced, allowing players to swim and dive anywhere in the ocean, increasing mobility and enabling the discovery of hidden elements like underwater treasure chests.
'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced' is set for a global release on July 9, 2026, for PS, Xbox, and PC.
