JOYCITY announced on the 22nd that its online basketball game, 'FreeStyle: Reboot,' will officially launch on August 13. Pre-registration has begun, and various in-game rewards are being offered to participants.
'FreeStyle: Reboot' is a modern reinterpretation of JOYCITY's flagship IP, 'FreeStyle.' While maintaining the original's signature 3v3 real-time street basketball, casual controls, and street-style vibe, the game features a new engine that provides comprehensive improvements to graphics, character animations, and the overall gameplay environment.
This title specifically focuses on player skill and teamwork over equipment or item stats. By reducing reliance on item stats, the game creates a fairer competitive environment while inheriting the original's fast-paced matches and strategic team play through modern systems.
'FreeStyle' is an online sports game that launched in Korea in 2004. As JOYCITY's representative IP, it has enjoyed long-term success thanks to its 3v3 street basketball format, unique characters, and flashy skill animations. The series has since expanded with titles like 'FreeStyle 2' and 'FreeStyle Football,' and both the original and its successors continue to be serviced today.
JOYCITY will host a pre-registration event until the official launch. Participants will receive basic rewards, including character cosmetic items and in-game points, with additional benefits such as extra cosmetics and points available for completing social media sharing missions.
Jeon Hyun-kyu, director of the FreeStyle business division, stated, "We have enhanced convenience while preserving the fun of the original, and we are preparing to provide a stable and fair gameplay environment at launch. Starting with the domestic service, we plan to expand to global markets, including China, in the future."
