Gen.G Sweeps Swiss Stage, Draws Fnatic in VALORANT Masters Toronto Playoffs

Gen.G clinched a berth in the VALORANT Masters Toronto playoffs after sweeping its Swiss Stage matches with flawless performances. Representing the VCT Pacific, the Korean squad opened with a victory over MIBR on June 8 and followed up with a win against Paper Rex on June 9, finishing the stage with a perfect 2-0 record.

In their opening match on “Sunset,” Gen.G raced to a 9-3 lead at halftime and closed out the map 13-5, dropping only two rounds after intermission. The team carried that momentum into “Haven,” conceding a single round in the first half before completing a 13-1 sweep, with each player posting a kill-death differential of at least +10.

The following day, Gen.G faced Pacific contender Paper Rex on “Ascent,” where an early seven-round streak propelled them to an 8-4 half. Paper Rex narrowed the gap to 11-10, but defensive plays by Jung "Foxy9" Jae-sung and a final-round clutch from Kim "Karon" Won-tae secured a 13-11 victory. On “Icebox,” Kim "t3xture" Na-ra led the charge with 18 kills and six deaths, supported by Byeon "Munchkin" Sang-beom’s 19-kill, 10-death performance, as Gen.G rolled to a 13-3 win.

With the Swiss Stage complete, the playoff bracket draw paired Gen.G against Fnatic in a first-round clash on June 14. The double-elimination playoffs run through June 22, culminating in a best-of-five grand final. Most matches will be best-of-three, with the lower-bracket final and championship series extending to best-of-five.

Following a runner-up finish in VCT Pacific Stage 1 and strong showings in the Swiss Stage, Gen.G enters the playoffs as a formidable contender. Its first test against Fnatic will set the tone for a potential deep run in Toronto’s international field.
