Korea Boardgames has officially released three science-themed board games—'15 Degrees,' 'Condensation Game,' and 'Chemi-Artist'—developed by Choi Won-jun, a teacher at Sinseong Middle School. These games were commercialized after being tested in actual classroom settings, following requests from teachers and a preliminary demand survey. Each game covers scientific concepts such as global temperature, dew points, and chemical equations, and they are currently available for purchase on the official website.
The three newly commercialized board games were developed by Choi Won-jun, a teacher at Sinseong Middle School, who has been using them in his own science classes. Having been validated in the classroom, these games are part of a broader initiative at Sinseong Middle School, where five science teachers, including Choi, have integrated self-developed board games into their curriculum.
Choi reportedly began developing the games after finding that existing commercial board games were often too complex and lacked clear links to learning objectives. He aimed to create games that could be explained in five minutes, played in thirty, and precisely target specific learning goals, refining them through continuous application in his classes.
Each game translates scientific facts from the curriculum into a board game format. '15 Degrees' explores the process of maintaining the Earth's average temperature at 15 degrees Celsius, while 'Condensation Game' is designed to help students intuitively experience the principle that dew points change according to temperature. 'Chemi-Artist' is a cooperative game where players complete chemical equations using element cubes.
Following repeated requests from teachers at training sessions to "just sell them so we can buy and use them," Choi submitted a proposal to Korea Boardgames. The release was made possible after approximately 100 science teachers participated in a preliminary demand survey. "In an era where smart devices dominate our daily lives, now is the time when classrooms need board games that allow us to look each other in the eye and share lively conversations," Choi said.
The three games are available for purchase on the Korea Boardgames official website. A bundle of all three is offered at a 40% discount.
