HoYoverse released an interview video with the developers of its urban action RPG, 'Zenless Zone Zero,' on its official YouTube channel today (the 21st). The video features key development staff, including the scenario writer, who introduce upcoming changes to the game's story and content.
Season 3 will delve into the power residing within the Proxy siblings. Following the awakening of this power after the battle with Brang in Version 1.4, contact with the 'Creator' made it increasingly difficult to control. Version 2.7 focused on the search for 'Flint Porcelloi,' a material capable of mitigating this instability. However, the situation took a turn when the mysterious figure Ramiel seized it at the last moment.
After several unexpected incidents, the legacy of Helios dormant within the siblings manifests as the 'Ether Anomaly: Pyrois.' It plays a role in assisting the protagonist, much like other Agents, and the developers hinted that the story will also explore the history of the Helios Institute.

Meanwhile, Season 3 takes players to the 'Isle of the Sky,' the territory of a new faction, 'Loscaliper,' which appeared during the Hollow Heroes tournament. Officially known as the Airborne Classified District of Loscaliper, it is considered a utopia for Bangboo. Ruled by the one who brought the sun, it is a place where Bangboo and humanity coexist in peace. Writer Peng explained that the area was designed as a hidden zone that has existed independently as a classified district since the old Eridu era, while incorporating a nostalgic tone. Concept art revealed in the video shows a blend of 18th-19th century European architecture with futuristic elements. As the setting shifts, existing services like Tin Man Coffee will be integrated into new shops in this district, alongside new additions such as bakeries and jazz bars.
A new system, the 'Bangboo-net Terminal,' will also be added. Applicable across the entire city and all combat zones, this system allows the protagonist and Eous—who are not locals—to access the Bangboo network, uncover secret areas, and collect data. This process will offer various rewards and allow players to enjoy the hidden stories of Loscaliper. Additionally, new permanent Bangboo-themed content and various lore details will be unveiled this season. Players can also unlock a secret base by waking and finding more Bangboo, which will grant them special gifts.

Changes to combat zones were also mentioned. The team plans to enhance the combat experience by placing more monsters and devices in these areas and introducing new enemy types. Season 3 will also introduce a special environment called the 'Leak Singularity.' When triggered, a small area of reality temporarily shifts to resemble the interior of a Hollow, providing new exploration and combat experiences through complex, intertwined passages and shifting devices.
Alongside these changes, the Proxy siblings' hacking skills will emerge as a key solution for solving mechanics in Season 3. These skills will be used in various ways, such as hacking field devices to move them in specific situations or utilizing special vehicles with Eous' assistance to reach previously inaccessible areas. After mastering the 'Ether Anomaly,' players will use these elements to navigate more diverse field mechanics as the story progresses.
The developers also introduced the combat and content coming in the lead-up to Season 3, specifically in Version 2.8. Version 2.8 will preview the 'Wind' attribute mechanism that will be released in Season 3. Notably, the new boss will enter a Wind-attribute anomaly state at certain stages; applying a different anomaly state during this period will trigger a new effect called 'Turbulence.' Players will be able to experience and prepare for this effect ahead of its official launch.

Furthermore, the team is working on improvements to increase the utility of various characters' mechanisms, including the 'Ming-po' (Resonance) trait, and existing character enhancements are proceeding as planned. In line with this, Season 3 will add new enemies and combat mechanisms, while also preparing content that introduces new mechanics for existing enemies. This content will provide pre-configured Agent parties, with evaluations based solely on player skill and understanding. As free team composition options are also available, players can enjoy the content in their own preferred way.
Feedback regarding permanent and event content was also addressed. Updates to the Zero Hollow are focusing on optimizing resource circulation and creating a more polished, immersive single-run experience, with new enemies and unique enemy skills on the way. The team also teased another piece of content designed to offer new breakthrough strategies and pure combat enjoyment. They noted that features like in-combat photography and city-life content are being prepared based on positive player feedback. Additionally, Version 2.8 will introduce the 'Polychrome Guide' to help new players intuitively track resource acquisition paths and progress.
Finally, the schedule for the 2nd-anniversary festival and official broadcast ahead of the Version 2.8 update was revealed. The Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8 special program will be uploaded to the official YouTube channel on the 24th at 8:30 PM KST. The 2nd-anniversary festival is scheduled for Version 3.1, and further details can be found on the official community lounge.
