La Divina Commedia: A Dark Fantasy RPG Inspired by Dante

Jyamma Games, the Milan-based studio behind Enotria: The Last Song, has announced its next major project during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2025. Titled La Divina Commedia, the dark fantasy action-RPG takes direct inspiration from Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy, reimagining the medieval masterpiece as a playable epic.

The announcement was made with a world premiere teaser trailer showcasing a haunting, otherworldly atmosphere. Set in a universe where Dante’s text has become the foundation of faith, the story follows a warrior-poet who is lured into Hell. Players must descend through the infernal circles, confront increasingly powerful demons, and attempt to atone for a troubled past.

According to the studio, gameplay will center on hack-and-slash combat supported by unique weapon class mechanics. Additional features include procedurally generated extraction dungeons, a morality system tied to the Seven Deadly Sins, and robust weapon and armor customization that allows players to adjust both statistics and aesthetics.

Narrative design is being treated as a central pillar of the project. Developers said that Dante’s verses will directly influence the story, creating a thematic connection to the original text. Players will be able to choose a male or female protagonist, shaping the campaign through choices that affect both morality and progression.

On the technical side, Jyamma Games is collaborating with an international studio specializing in motion capture, previously credited for its work on Phantom Blade Zero. The team promises high-fidelity animations and detailed character performances designed to complement the game’s grim aesthetic.

La Divina Commedia is currently confirmed for PC via Steam, with additional platforms expected to be announced at a later date. Development updates will be shared on the game’s official website and Discord server. The reveal trailer is now live on the official YouTube channel.

With this project, Jyamma Games continues its focus on blending Italian cultural heritage with modern game design, following its self-described “summer soulslike” debut with Enotria: The Last Song.
