Gen.G to Face MiBR in VALORANT Masters Toronto Swiss Stage Opener

Gen.G is set to begin competition in the Swiss Stage of VALORANT Masters Toronto with a matchup against Made in Brazil (MiBR) on Sunday, June 8, at the Enercare Centre in Toronto. The Pacific region’s second seed, Gen.G earned its spot by finishing as runner-up in VCT Pacific Stage 1, while MiBR claimed third place in VCT Americas.

VALORANT Masters Toronto brings together 12 teams that placed in the top three of their international leagues—Pacific, Americas, EMEA and CN—from March through May. The Swiss Stage, modeled after chess tournaments, pairs teams with identical win–loss records via a draw. Victories earn teams a spot in the playoffs, and two losses result in elimination. The stage runs from June 7 to June 11, with opening matches kicking off on June 7 featuring Team Heretics versus Paper Rex. Teams will compete for a share of a $250,000 prize pool and Championship Points that factor into qualification for VALORANT Champions later in the season.

Gen.G’s roster includes Kim "t3xture" Na-ra, known for his aggressive playstyle, while MiBR’s lineup features Erick "aspas" Santos, widely regarded as the leading first-generation VALORANT esports star. Santos led LOUD to the VALORANT Champions title in 2022 and secured runner-up at LOCK//IN 2023, followed by a third-place finish at Champions 2023. The aspas versus t3xture matchup has drawn attention as a highlight of the opening day.

Following the Round 1 results, teams with 1–0 records will face fellow winners on June 9, while 0–1 teams will compete on June 10. Winners of two matches by June 11 will advance to the playoffs, joining four teams—Team Liquid, XLG Esports, G2 Esports and Fnatic—that received direct playoff berths. The double-elimination playoffs begin on June 15, culminating in the grand finals on June 22. Most matches are best-of-three, with only the lower-bracket final and grand final played as best-of-five.
