Hanwha Life Esports secured a spot in the quarterfinals after finishing first in their group at the EWC 2026, held on the 16th at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in France. Despite having less preparation time than other teams due to flying to Paris immediately after their MSI victory, they proved why they are currently considered the strongest team in the scene.
The following is an interview with Hanwha Life Esports' 'Zeka' Kim Geon-woo.

Q. How do you feel about advancing to the quarterfinals as the group leader?
We knew our opponents were strong, so we started preparing right after yesterday's match. I'm satisfied that the results reflected the work we put in.
Q. What went well today?
First of all, our pick-ban strategy worked out perfectly. Because things went well in the draft, the game itself played out just as we had planned.
Q. Hanwha Life's momentum is incredible.
We won MSI, and since the meta is similar, I think we are utilizing our picks very effectively. To be honest, there are still areas we need to improve, but I feel there is room for us to grow even more as the tournament progresses.
Q. You are seen as a mid-laner who is constantly improving?
My skills have definitely improved since I first joined the LCK. Competing against such formidable mid-laners makes me feel like I'm leveling up. I also think the failures I've experienced in the past are why I'm able to achieve such good results now.
Q. With the Asian Games in September, your schedule remains very busy.
Managing my physical condition and stamina is something I naturally have to handle. Above all, I am honored to have been given so many opportunities. The position of a national team player is incredibly important—everyone knows that without me having to say it—and it comes with a sense of responsibility. My teammates are all such amazing players, so my only focus is on bringing home the gold medal.
Seeing how happy my parents were when I was selected made me want to prove myself even more. Personally, I do feel the pressure, but I think they will be thrilled if I win the gold medal when the tournament arrives.
Q. Any final words for the fans.
There are so many strong teams here. I don't know who we will face in the quarterfinals yet, but I believe a championship is more meaningful when you beat the best, so I look forward to playing exciting matches against strong opponents.
