Riot is hosting a $2,000,000 League of Legends festival in Saudi Arabia this weekend

Riot Games is investing in more League of Legends regions. This weekend, Saudi Arabia will be host to 'Nexus Arabia', a League event meant to enthuse Middle Eastern and Northern African countries for the game. From December 5th until the 7th, League of Legends fans are able to enjoy various activities and competitions.

Spread across the festival floor are a total twenty-two activities. These range from a Teemo-style maze players have to find their way out of to Gragas sumo wrestling matches where participants wear customized sumo-suits. If that's not what you're looking for, perhaps a round of laser tag to show your FPS prowess, or an escape room to display your wit are more up your alley.

Thirst for victory

As enjoyable as those activities may be, raw competition many League of Legends fans love is the main focus of Nexus Arabia. There are a total of six competitions over the course of the event. A 5v5 Summoner's Rift tournament with $850,000 up for grabs, a $200,000 cosplay contest, a $100,000 1v1 tournament, and a $100,000 Teamfight Tactics tournament are all available to the public.

The event's website also lists two 'influencer tournaments': a $650,000 5v5 Summoner's Rift tournament, and a $100,000 Teamfight tactics tournament. Few details are known—even the participants aren't listed on the website.

It's not just the tournaments Riot Games has invested quite a bit in for Nexus Arabia. Popular R&B artist Jason Derulo will perform as the closing act to the event. Other musical performances are performed by DJ Mako and Crystal Method, who both have worked with Riot at previous events.
