[Worlds 2019] FPX Doinb Sends a Message to IG: “Jia You! Let’s keep this championship trophy in the LPL!”

On the 26th, FunPlus Phoenix took down Fnatic in the second quarterfinal match of the 2019 LoL World Championship. With this victory over Fnatic, they now face Invictus Gaming in the semifinals, and guaranteed an LPL team at the finals.

FPX’s Mid laner, Kim "Doinb" Tae-sang, joined Sjokz in the official Riot Games English broadcast for the post-match interview to share his thoughts about the victory.

Congratulations on your victory. What does it mean to make it to your very first Worlds semifinals?

It’s about proving myself. I’ve never made it to Worlds before this year, and I’ve always doubted if it was of my own inabilities. However, with this win, it proved that I’m good enough to make it thus far.

About proving yourself, there were many questions about FPX’s level after group stages. Do you think that as a team, you’re good enough to make it all the way to the finals at Worlds, and how far away from seeing the real FPX?

We were very nervous in the group stages. We’ve never played Bo1s, and none of us have never made it to Worlds before. I think our team’s much stronger in Bo5s, When it comes to the Bo1s in groups, I think I was very unlucky, and I don’t think I did very well on the two champions that I’ve played.

It’s never easy to come to another region and play, especially when the majority of the crowd is cheering for your opponent. However, it doesn’t look like it’s been an issue for you. What was your experience like, playing in this arena?

I love Madrid, because I’m a huge football fan. Whether it’s us or our opponents getting the kills, I could feel the passion from the fans, because everyone’s cheering very loud.

I think we need to make a special shoutout to your beautiful wife and your fan club, who’s been cheering very loudly for you all day. Is there anything you’d like to say to them?

“MOMODA!” (An expression of affection used at the end of text messages similar to “mwah” in English.)

Your semifinals opponent is Invictus Gaming. What do you want to say to them?

I really didn’t want to meet another LPL team in the knockout stages, because it meant that however the results may turn out, one team had to go home. Against IG, all I want to say is “Jia You (in this context, means good luck)! Let’s keep this championship trophy in the LPL!”
