[Sources] 2019 LoL World Championship will Allow 7-Man Rosters

There will be 7 players on the roster at the 2019 LoL World Championship.

According to sources, each team will now be allowed to have up to 7 players on their rosters at the 2019 LoL World Championship. The participating teams will now have an extra option, two substitutes, to bring to Worlds.

Up to now, the maximum number of players in international stages had been fixed at 6 players, but as the LoL Esports scene grew over the years, many teams had formed a roster of above that limit, up to 10. It was often pointed out it may be necessary to allow more players for the teams to bring to international tournaments.

It seems that Riot Games has agreed to this opinion and has expanded the entry limit to 7. Sources say that the 2019 World Championship participants have submitted their 7-man rosters to Riot Games as of the 16th.

When asked about this matter, Riot Games answered, “The official rule book for the 2019 World Championship will be announced on the 23rd at 10 AM.”

The 2019 World Championship will start with the Play-in Stage on the 2nd of October. 24 teams from around the world will compete for over a month to claim the Summoner’s Cup. The Play-in Stage and Group Stage will be held in Berlin, Germany, Quarterfinals and Semifinals in Madrid, Spain, and the Grand Final will be held in Paris, France.
