SKT Faker: "The most important virtue of a teammate would be flexibility. A stubborn player can ruin the team atmosphere."

On the 12th of July (KST), SK Telecom T1 defeated kt Rolster in the 2019 LCK Summer Split. With another 2-0 week, SK Telecom is now on a 4-game winning streak and back on their feet. After the match, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok sat with Inven Global for an interview.

SKT is doing great. How do you feel?

I feel really good that the team’s condition has become better. As we started the winning streak, we gained confidence and everyone’s gotten brighter. I’m proud as the captain of the team.

Has the team atmosphere gotten better after the Rift Rivals?

Actually, we started the winning streak before Rift Rivals and we all were in good conditions from then. As we won the Rift Rivals, everyone is even better now.

Ever since Rift Rivals, opponent teams are banning Neeko against you. Are you happy with that or do you want to play Neeko more?

If there’s a fixed ban, our team can take advantage of that so I feel good. It’s better for me as well. (Don’t you want to play her more?) No. (Is it enough with just playing her at Rift Rivals?) Yes. (Laughs)

What do you think the most important reason SKT has transitioned into a winning streak?

First, it would be the matchup schedule. We were matched up against stronger teams early in the season, but now we’re playing against comparably lower-ranked teams. Aside from that, we recovered our performance as a team. It would be these two reasons.

You had said that you’ll have a 13-game winning streak. Which team would be the biggest obstacle to that goal?

We have to play Griffin again in Round 2. As much as they’re in first place, I think they’ll be the biggest obstacle. On the other hand, if we win that match, we would gain heaps of confidence, so it would be a very important match for us.

Clid said in an interview that ‘Faker lacks a bit in 1v1s’. Do you have anything to say about that?

It is not true. I didn’t play 1v1s much with Clid at LoL Park. He’s just enjoying the glory after winning this one time. That is not a true statement. (Laughs)

As the captain and player that played in SKT for a long time, what do you think the most important virtue of a teammate?

The most important virtue of a teammate would be flexibility. A stubborn player can ruin the team atmosphere. What goes well with the team atmosphere is having a flexible attitude. Whether it’s in-game or out of the game.

Any last comments regarding Round 2?

We won the first match of Round 2. Our goal for Round 2 is winning 9 matches; I’ll do my best to reach our goal.
