On the 16th of January, at the newly established LoL Park, the opening day of the 2019 LCK Spring Split took place. The first series of the day featured SK Telecom T1 and Jin Air Green Wings, in which SKT claimed victory over JAG with a score of 2-0. Throughout the series, Faker played Urgot in both games and absorbed enemy aggression and damage for his team.

The following is an interview with SKT Faker.

How do you feel about your victory?

I was a bit nervous as it was my first time playing in an LCK opening day. With this victory, I was able to gain confidence; I think I'll be able to continue to perform well.

This was your first match at the LoL Park. Do you like the playing environment here? What is your opinion of the open-booth setup?

I have often played in an open-booth setup, and I personally don't feel a big difference. As for the LoL Park stadium, I really like the round design. However, as I have always played on stage on a rectangular table; the round table here at the LoL Park felt a bit unfamiliar.

What kind of feedback did you receive after the KeSPA Cup?

During the KeSPA Cup, every individual on the team spoke [shotcall] what was on their mind. As a result, our opinions often collided with each other. We were lacking in team coordination, so we practiced forming solid teamwork after the KeSPA tournament.

The LCK's schedule has been changed to Wednesday through Sunday.

Last year, we barely had any time to rest, and it affected us physically and mentally.  However, our team doesn't seem to have a very busy schedule this Spring. I'm glad.

In the most recent international tournaments, the LCK has been underperforming. Is there anything you want to say to the other regions?

Including our team, the LCK did underperform. I think it's too soon for me to have a say at the other regions as an LCK representative.

Once our team further grows and win in multiple competitions including this Spring Split, I think that's when I'll be able to discuss competing against the other regions.

How will you prepare for your next match against Afreeca Freecs?

We only have two days to prepare. With what we have been preparing so far, we'll continue to practice and bring out our potential.
