Networkz of Team Spain: "Hammond's strong point isn't about damage, but the space he makes. He forces enemy team cooldowns and still survives with full HP"

Alejandro "Networkz" Martín Pérez is the Main Tank for Team Spain.  Their World Cup matches are coming up this weekend.  Looking at the roster, I saw a team filled with experienced players from both OWL and Contenders.  But with Networkz, he's a new face and I had to know more.  I found an interview with HarryHook who had excellent things to say about him:

"...we have a new tank, his name is Network, and he’s actually really good. Like, not “just the best we have, so we have to play him,” no, he’s actually good. So I think we can definitely improve in that way."

I got into direct contact with Networkz, as I wanted to hear from himself what assets he brought to his team.  I also got his thoughts on the two tanks that have seen the most patch updates in recent history: Hammond and Roadhog.  From his dedication to the game, to his upbeat personality and insightful replies, I could see why HarryHook was excited to have Networkz on Team Spain.

What are your greatest strengths with the team?  How is your synergy with the roster?

I'm very dedicated and I never stop grinding until I reach my objectives.  I love the game and my role as main tank.  I'm also a really good teammate in and outside the game, which make me a pretty good player, I think!

One of the biggest differences in Team Spain is that we work as a team.  Maybe we're not the best player in the world, but we've been grinding and scrimming together.  We're working on becoming a real team, not just 6 guys playing for their country.

It seems that Team Spain has the most free agents, so does that mean there's more time to scrim together?

We've been playing since the end of trials.  We've scrimmed almost every day at a minimum of 2 hours per day.  I injured my right arm with epicondylitis and it wasn't an excuse to stop playing.  We've had some breaks since we have OWL players that want to relax for the holidays, which was totally fine, but before and after it we were scrimming almost every day.  Everyone puts in a lot of effort to come to scrims every day.  For example, dhaK still lives in NA so he had to wake up super early to scrim with us.

Were you able to watch any of last weekend's World Cup matches?

I watched some games by myself.  We watched USA vs Canada together.

Which tanks do you primarily play?

My favourite and strongest hero is Winston.  I can also play every tank at a high level (Rein, Hammond, Orisa).

Both Mangachu and ZachaREEE have commented on the strength of Winston's 50 damage jump pack bug being active in the patch played for the World Cup.  What are your thoughts on it?

It's pretty good for me since I love Winston!

How do you feel about the latest Hammond bugfixes on PTR? Will he still be viable when the changes go Live?

It should be fine since it's just a bug.  Hammond's strong point isn't about damage, but the space he makes. He forces enemy team cooldowns and still survives with full HP because of his shield + mobility.

Does he require specific team compositions for his kit to be maximized?

It depends, you can play with hard engage with Hammond which creates a lot of space.  But in my opinion, I think the strongest point is that Hammond can survive long enough to have your team kill the enemy's frontlines while you are still alive zoning the enemy's backline.

Regarding composition, I would say Hammond with D.Va.  The rest doesnt really matter; it depends on the hero pool your team has.

Are there any particular Hammond players that you feel are exceptional and/or underrated?

I didnt see many players using Hammond but from what I've seen, Fate in Korea's Group Stage played a pretty solid Hammond.

Seems like a lot of teams are still experimenting with Hammond.

I think triple tank (Winston/Hammond/D.Va) works pretty well.  I don't really like GOATS with Hammond replacing D.Va since I feel D.Va is too strong at the moment.  This patch lets you play many comps, it just depends on your team/hero pool.  Each team builds their own playstyle, so I think Hammond can work with many heroes.  It's just really hard to master and people haven't really played it enough yet.

Who's the DPS hero in a triple tank comp?

Tracer is fine.  Genji with Ana is pretty good.  Sombra, Doomfist, Genji and Tracer all work fine.

Roadhog's hook also got fixed on the last PTR patch.  However, they also "fixed" his falloff damage on the right-click.  Do you think Roadhog will be viable when the changes are Live?

I think quad tank is viable, but it's pretty hard to play because the cooldowns are long and hard to manage.  The biggest problem of Roadhog is mobility.  At the moment, the meta is about mobility and Roadhog has a severe lack of it.  He's an ult charger (for the enemy) and is only playable with Orisa, quad tank, or a GOATS comp.
