On the 4th of August (KST), Gen.G Esports defeated Jin Air Green Wings 2:1 in the 2018 LCK Summer split day 39 match 2. Although the team had a hard time stopping Jin Air’s Teddy, Gen.G still managed to deliver concrete performance in late-game and claimed the victory. Gen.G Ruler picked Ashe and initiated most of the team’s teamfights.
The following is the interview with Ruler.
How do you feel to defeat Jin Air 2:1?
It was a tough match. I was afraid that Teddy would again show his ‘general’ force. It’s a relief that we’ve won.
notes: Teddy is named as a ‘general’ among the Korean LoL fans.
You won game 1 won quite easily, but game 2 seemed really tough. What was the highlight of the 2 games?
In game 1, we managed to snowball big after killing Jhin in a 3 vs 3 bottom lane skirmish. In game 2, our bottom composition had a disadvantage compared to the opponent’s; it was difficult for us to turn the tables.
Game 3 was really competitive. Can you explain about the fight near the opponent’s Blue buff?
We thought that we’d win the teamfights. However, we started to get killed one by one. We did evade Orianna’s ultimate, so I thought we’d win, but we just lost our focus.
The team lost a game. Considering that the team is competing for first place, Gen.G might be on a disadvantage now.
Well, it is disappointing. We got no choice but to win our future matchup and pray.
Now the ‘traditional’ meta is back. What are your thoughts on this?
It feels more comfortable since I have an easier time going against traditional ADCs than non-ADC champions. Now is more fun and interesting.
People say that the team is better in actual matches. Do you agree?
I didn’t really feel it in Spring split, but I think we tend to do better in actual matches in the Summer split. However, these days we deliver the same performance we showed in practice, so the gap isn’t that big.
Any last words?
it was a tough win and we’ll prepare more for next match to win. I hope you guys keep on supporting us and please watch out for the hot weather.
