The top 5 plays from the final week of Overwatch Contenders

The final week of the regular season has passed and with it, another set of incredible plays by some of the best talent Overwatch has to offer. Let’s take a look at who impressed this past weekend.

Final Week of Contenders Coverage - Day 1 , Day 2 , Day 3

Mangachu’s Junkrat

The Junkrat meta is in full swing and Mangachu is a consistent reminder of the heroes effectiveness. His RIP Tires, in particular, are always impactful, taking side routes and unpredictable flanks that are difficult to see coming.

Buds’ Widowmaker Saves the Series

Anyone who has tried to play Widowmaker has been in this situation before. It's the moment where you have clear shots of the entire enemy team and, as long as you hit all of your shots, your team will win the game. For most of us, that is a lot easier said than done, but Buds' delivered this clutch play when it mattered the most, keeping cool despite the high stakes.

5. Leaf’s Doomf.. Pharah?

It’s no surprise that Lucas “Leaf” Loison has a play in the top five, but being that it’s on a hero that’s not named Doomfist is appalling. Europe’s best Doomfist ventured out into the skies with Pharah on Lijiang Tower where he reigned justice from above.

4. Hafficool with the Shutdown

Keep your eyes peeled for the first few seconds of this clip, as 123’s Hafþór “Hafficool” Hákonarson completely denies the Tactical Visor before following through with a slew of kills. With plays like this, we should see less doubts regarding Hafficool's effectiveness on Genji moving forward.

3. eUnited’s One Hope: Vallutaja

In the midst of utter defeat after facing Europe’s best team in Misfits, Hendrik-William “vallutaja” Kinks turned up the heat on Watchpoint: Gibraltar, keeping it close throughout. His Tracer play went toe to toe with even that of Andreas “Logix” Berghmans throughout this map.

2. Immortals’ Fate says it’s Hammertime

Seeing Reinhardt in the mix of team compositions nowadays brings a whole new dimension of entertainment, as some of the best Reinhardts in the game get to show us how to bring down the hammer. In this clip, Koo "Fate" Pan-Seung threads the needle with a giant hammer.

1. Agilities Genji Goes Unscathed

Brady “Agilities” Girardi had at least three to four Genji clips throughout his set with Kungarna that would be deemed worthy of the top five. It’s been some time since we’ve seen Agilities in his true form, something he showed us time and time again this weekend.

InvenGlobal will be in attendance during the playoffs starting October 7th at Blizzard's new esports arena. Stay tuned for more highlights and coverage of the competitive scene.
