On November 4, Kakao Games Corp. released a new combat video showcasing a battle between the Paladin class and a new boss in the action MMORPG Chrono Odyssey. Developed by Chrono Studio and published globally by Kakao Games, the title is aiming for a Q2 2027 launch on PC and console.
The video captures the Paladin fighting new Chrono Gate boss Miragin from start to finish. Captured straight from an in-development build, the footage was recorded in a single, unedited take.
The footage also demonstrates combat utilizing Replicate and Isolation, two key movements of the time-manipulation system known as the Chronotector. Time manipulation is incorporated directly into battle to control opponent movements and create openings to attack.
Using Replicate allows players to temporarily recreate combat skills of previously defeated monsters to attack enemies. Isolation freezes an enemy's time for a set duration, serving to restrict their movement.
The video also reveals the offensive and defensive combat style of the Paladin, who handles a spear and shield. It highlights the Paladin executing chain attacks with a long spear, summoning a massive spear to deal heavy damage, and blocking enemy strikes with a shield to mitigate incoming damage.
Chrono Odyssey is set in an open world created with Unreal Engine 5. Built on a cosmic horror dark fantasy setting that blends aesthetic artistry with realism, the game will feature dynamic day-night shifts affected by time, combat leveraging the Chronotector, and heavy-hitting action. The developers plan to deliver pure gameplay enjoyment and immersion with zero Pay to Win elements.
