Digital Extremes will open its early Alpha playtest for Soulframe to PC players worldwide on November 7 (KST). Along with Soulframe Open Preludes, which transitions the game from closed alpha to open alpha, a new update for November is also set to be showcased.
In its monthly Devstream, the development team unveiled the upcoming update, 'Verse of the Veilands'. The update features an environmental-change-based world progression system, an 'Omen Wolf' mount, and new fishing features.
The new world progression system, 'Veilands,' becomes accessible after completing 'The Tormented Stag' Fable. Exploring the overworld of Alca, players encounter new corruption spread by the invading Ode forces. To earn a mount, players must complete a wolf pup's training and purify two Veilands regions. Feeding the pup a crafted 'Bairnday Biscuit' then allows it to grow into an Omen Wolf mount. The developers plan to further expand mount features in future updates.
The new character Pact, 'Ode Shrike,' utilizes the trapping technologies of the invading forces. It allows players to deploy spike traps, launch balloon darts that lift enemies into the air, cast bola chains that link damage, and throw evasive bombs for mobility.
The seasonal event 'Bita's Eve' is also returning. Players can seek out patches of 'Wintersquash' and challenge a new headless horserider mini-boss named 'Veltruska'. The event offers limited-time rewards and a special fish, the 'Sunken Terror'.
Soulframe is an open-world fantasy adventure game currently in development by Digital Extremes, with Open Preludes playable on Windows PC. Players explore the open world, forge Pacts with Omen Beasts to channel the abilities of ancient Ancestors, and heal the corrupted land. Completing story-driven quests called 'Fables,' discovering World Trees, and releasing captive animals sequentially unlock features such as co-op multiplayer, crafting, customization, weapon progression, and social mechanics.
Geoff Crookes, Creative Director, stated, "Soulframe has been a community-driven game from day one, shaped by the tight-knit group of players that joined us for Preludes, and now, we're ready to grow that community even further." The development team plans to continuously add new features while incorporating community feedback.
Digital Extremes is developing Soulframe alongside Warframe, which is celebrating its 12th anniversary of service. According to the company, Warframe has over 85 million registered players across all major gaming platforms. Detailed information about Soulframe Open Preludes and the update can be found on the official website and in the patch notes.
