Kabam has started the Empire of Doom Saga in Marvel Contest of Champions, a two-part takeover that began on November 2nd and brings new champions, a Doom-themed event tower and a community campaign running into January.
According to a release, Stellar-Forged Doom now controls the game's Battlerealm, and the takeover reworks the menus and theming to match his home nation of Latveria. Part One comes with a new motion comic featuring voice actor Matthew Mercer. Part Two is set for December, when the game marks 12 years.
New champions in November
Star-Lord (Kitty Pryde) arrives on November 12th, followed by a rework of Beast on November 19th. In this version of the story, Kitty took over the Star-Lord title after a falling out with the X-Men sent her into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
The Victorious Four also join the roster starting in November. Kabam describes them as a team from a Multiverse where the Fantastic Four follow Doctor Doom (the name is a nod to Victor Von Doom). The game now counts more than 350 champions.
Alliance season, sieges and the Reclamation War
Doom's Alliance Super Season runs from November 4th to December 9th. It pairs solo objectives with a 28-day login calendar, and its rewards come from modes including Alliance Wars, Alliance Quests, Raids and Battlegrounds.
The Side Quest Doom Event Tower (November 4th to 18th) pits players against members of the Thunderbolts and the Avengers recruited by Doom, with the clock running, while the ‘Dawn of Destruction’ event quest runs from November 4th to December 9th. Sieges are live from November 2nd until January 4th. Overlord Sieges unlock as the community hits weekly milestones, and Gatekeeper Sieges bring rotating mini-bosses that only 4-Star champions can take on.
The Reclamation War is a nine-week campaign over the same window. Players feed a shared global pool of ‘Operation Event Points’, earning up to three points a week toward a 27-milestone saga track that also unlocks World Bosses.
A Beast Double Track Event runs until January 27th with a path to a 7-Star Beast through the Platinum Pass. The Quantum Tangle Cyber Weekend event, featuring Medusa and Ghost, follows from November 20th to December 4th.
Free champions for new players
Starting November 3rd at 5 PM PT, new players can claim 10 free champions, among them Invisible Woman, Magneto (Red), Mister Fantastic and Professor X. The Answer the Call bundle giveaway adds a 14-day calendar with Rank Up resources and a 4-Star Awakening Gem.
