Nexon has revealed its plans for NAKWON: LAST PARADISE—its upcoming zombie survival game currently in development—addressing PvE development direction, party size limits, housing, and progression systems in a Steam Community Q&A post. The Q&A addresses key questions and suggestions submitted to the official Discord throughout October, covering various in-game systems ranging from the differentiation between PvE and PvPvE modes to progression speeds based on Citizen Grade.
First, the PvE mode is being developed to offer standalone gameplay rather than serving as a tutorial or secondary content for PvPvE. Defeating powerful infected and earning loot will act as the primary source of rewards, providing unique challenges and gameplay experiences tailored specifically to PvE.
However, given that PvE carries less risk due to the absence of PK (player killing) threats, rewards will differ. The developers plan to design PvPvE so players can acquire higher-tier items. Both modes will share a single character without separation, allowing players to choose their preferred mode before embarking on expeditions. Party size for the PvPvE mode will be fixed at a maximum of two players, while the player limit for PvE mode has not yet been decided.
Items used to decorate shelters will be expanded with greater variety. However, the development team stated that acquiring housing items like wallpaper, flooring, and ceiling tiles through looting is not currently being considered, and additional acquisition methods will be evaluated at a later date.

Adjustments to progression speeds for Citizen Grade and shelter development will be tailored to the user experience. Since NAKWON borrows parts of its progression structure from MMORPGs, the fun derived from accumulating assets and building a character is a key element. As a result, Citizen Grade will rise relatively fast in the early game to deliver a sense of progression, before gradually slowing down after reaching a certain stage. The developers are balancing progression so players can form an attachment to each shelter and experience it thoroughly, while pacing content unlock elements—such as NPCs—more comfortably than in previous tests.
Additionally, the team revealed the backstory behind the green tape—commonly known in Korea as blue tape (duct tape)—that appears throughout the game. "Duct tape is often used when fixing things across a wide variety of situations," the developers explained. "By showing torn and broken things taped back together, we wanted to visually express the will to survive, even in a ruined world."
NAKWON: LAST PARADISE is a multiplayer PvPvE survival game set in post-apocalyptic Seoul. Players reside in a survivor hub by day and head out into the infected-infested city center at night to scavenge vital survival supplies and extract. During expeditions, players face various choices, such as sneaking past the infected or cooperating—or clashing—with other survivors. The game also features life and progression elements, allowing players to manage their shelter and raise their Citizen Grade using gathered resources.
Meanwhile, Nexon conducts monthly Q&A sessions for NAKWON: LAST PARADISE to answer player questions. The development direction and content plans revealed in these Q&A sessions are subject to change as development progresses. Various community content related to NAKWON: LAST PARADISE can be found on its official Discord.
