Nexon announced on October 29 that it will hold 'OVER WORLD', an online showcase for its new MMORPG Overgeared (OVERGEARED), on its official YouTube channel at 8 p.m. on November 5.
During the showcase, Nexon will announce the official release date and a post-launch update roadmap for the first six months. Producer Byung-chun Choi and Director Soon-jun Yoon from developer Gray Games will appear to present the development direction, key content, and service plans using actual gameplay footage.
According to Nexon, Overgeared opened pre-registration on October 1. On October 21, pre-reservations for servers and character names were opened, resulting in all 20 servers reaching capacity. Over-Talk, a three-part video series featuring the development team, covered the equipment-centered progression system, the adaptation method of the original IP, and the 'Dimension' system.
Overgeared is currently under development based on the web novel and webtoon IP Overgeared. Nexon is handling publishing and plans to offer cross-platform service on PC and mobile across South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The original IP's achievements highlighted by Nexon include a combined 1.3 billion views across KakaoPage web novels and webtoons, as well as over 700,000 comments in Korea. It ranked No. 1 in popularity on Asian web novel platform Wuxiaworld, while on Japanese digital manga and novel platform Piccoma, it accumulated 85.28 million likes and won a Piccoma Award 2023.
The original story follows the adventures of protagonist Shin Young-woo, who changes classes to 'Pagma's Descendant' in the virtual reality game Satisfy (SATISFY) and grows stronger by collecting rare items. The web novel concluded in April 2024, while the webtoon is currently serialized on KakaoPage. An animated video was released on October 2.
