Stygian: Outer Gods leaves Early Access with a new chapter and boss fight

Add us on

Fulqrum Publishing and Misterial Games have launched Stygian: Outer Gods in full on PC, bringing the Lovecraftian survival horror role-playing game (RPG) out of Early Access on Steam and GOG.

According to a release, the full version is out now for $24.99, with a 20% launch discount. It brings the story to its end. The update also adds a new chapter, more puzzles, extra artifacts and weapons, plus new enemies (one of them a boss).

Early Access lets players buy a game while it is still being made; the studio keeps adding content until a final, or 1.0, release. All of the content added during that period is part of the full game, the release says.

The game is set in the universe of Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones, before the events of the Black Day. Players take the role of Jack Harrison. Searching for his missing father, he heads to Kingsport (a once-busy harbor town now lost to decay and thick fog) and is shipwrecked there.

Survival and sanity in Kingsport

Kingsport's locations include crumbling streets, a secluded family mansion, deserted mines and mist-covered forests, along with places the release describes as ‘beyond the boundaries of reality’. Supplies are scarce. Players scavenge, then craft tools and remedies to stay alive.

Physical health is only half of it. Psychological afflictions can change how the game plays, according to the release, while character progression offers different ways to build up abilities. Exploration and investigation sit next to combat; player choices can have ‘lasting consequences’, with branching paths and different outcomes.

Two add-ons are also on sale. The Official Digital Artbook collects almost 200 pages of artwork. The Heretic's Arsenal Pack adds an artifact plus two melee weapons.

Misterial Games was founded in 2023 and makes survival horror games in Unreal Engine 5. Stygian: Outer Gods is its debut. Fulqrum Publishing, based in Prague, says it has released over a hundred games, among them Men of War, King's Bounty, Space Rangers, Fell Seal and Forgive Me Father.
