Finnish Counter-Strike organisation ENCE is filing for bankruptcy after 13 years, its board announced on October 26th.
The Helsinki-based organisation shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) with a statement captioned "End of an era 💔". "After 13 years, the Board of Directors of ENCE eSports Oy has made the difficult decision to file for bankruptcy," the statement read.
The short message thanked ENCE's players, staff and partners "for everything", before turning to its supporters. "And most importantly, to our fans: thank you for standing with us through every victory and defeat. None of this would have been possible without you," it said, signing off with "GG".
The statement gave no details on what happens next for ENCE's players, staff or contracts, and the organisation has not shared any further information so far. The post passed 980,000 views and 25,000 likes within a few hours.
ENCE's 2026 season
The announcement came partway through a rebuild of ENCE's Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) team. In June, the organisation brought back former player Aleksi 'allu' Jalli as Head Coach, replacing long-time Academy coach George 'Whitey' White. At the time, General Manager Eemeli 'Woomera' Ikonen said the young roster would "benefit tremendously from the experience, knowledge, and leadership that allu brings."
According to ENCE's August season update, the new lineup reached the grand final of Elisa Breakout Series 1 at Assembly Summer 2026, where it lost 2-0 to BC.Game (11-13 on Mirage, 13-16 on Nuke). Joe 'joeski' Holmes later joined on a tryout basis, and on October 19th ENCE said it had ended kRaSNaLkox's contract by mutual agreement.
Away from the server, ENCE also ran community events in Finland. Two days before the announcement, allu and HENU met fans at the POWER store in Tammisto, and the organisation had been promoting a student CS2 tournament at its office on November 26th. ENCE has not said whether those plans will go ahead.
