Minimap announced that Korean language support for its 2D puzzle platformer The Melty Way will begin on November 9. A PC game, The Melty Way features 6 worlds and over 60 levels.
In The Melty Way, players control a slime that consumes part of its body with every movement. To navigate narrow passages and traps and reach the exit hidden in each level, players must decide their path by carefully considering their remaining body size and weight.
Available movement methods and ways to handle obstacles vary depending on the slime's size. A smaller body is advantageous for squeezing through tight spaces or dashing quickly, but leaves less margin for error to survive. Increasing body size allows its weight to affect the environment or endure hazardous sections, requiring players to make tactical choices balancing mobility and survival.
Each world introduces new environments and mechanics, presenting increasingly complex puzzles as progression requires utilizing previously learned techniques. Objects and obstacles react differently to player actions, requiring observation and experimentation to decipher each level's rules. Uncovering hidden paths and additional challenges unlocks cosmetic items that customize the slime's color and appearance.
Alongside the slime's pixel art visuals, the game emphasizes precise controls and mastery achieved through repeated attempts. Minimap explained that it introduced Korean support so domestic players can more easily understand and enjoy the puzzles and mechanics. Korean language support will be provided via Steam.
Development was handled by indie game studio G Doublé. Founded by two individuals named Gabriel, The Melty Way is the studio's debut title.
