HoYoverse will launch Version 7.2 of the open-world adventure RPG Genshin Impact, titled 'Hour of Ruin,' on November 4. Along with a new Archon Quest, the update introduces 5-star character Mitya and 4-star character Valeriy, while unlocking the eastern region of Snezhnaya.
This Archon Quest follows the seven nations uniting to confront a continent-wide calamity across Teyvat. Completing the quest within the designated timeframe awards 560 Primogems and character ascension materials for Mitya. A separate new quest, 'Edict of the Ice Palace,' offers rewards including Snezhnaya-themed Wind Gliders.
The calamity begins as energy surges from the Nails of Retribution across Teyvat, causing mysterious pillars of light and the Holy Soil phenomenon to emerge. The Tsaritsa convenes a summit in Snezhnaya by summoning representatives from all seven nations, where the Traveler joins forces with the Archons, Neuvillette, and various allies to avert the continent's destruction.
The new character Mitya is an Electro Catalyst user. When included in the party, he converts Superconduct reactions into 'Stellar-Conduct' reactions and increases the damage dealt by this reaction for the entire party. His Elemental Skill can be operated in two ways: releasing accumulated special energy to deal 'Stellar-Conduct' damage to surrounding enemies, or consuming energy to perform a series of special Charged Attacks.
Mitya's Elemental Burst deals AoE Electro DMG while generating additional special energy. During exploration, players can utilize the 'Detection Reactor' to discover hidden paths and cosmetic rewards. Joining alongside him is Valeriy, a discipline-focused Major of the Armory Palace and an Electro Sword character. He provides a shield and an Electro DMG bonus, supporting parties focused on 'Stellar-Conduct' reactions.
Phase 1 of Version 7.2's Event Wishes introduces Mitya and Valeriy alongside a rerun for Furina. Phase 2 features reruns for Zabaek and Linnea, as well as a new Chronicled Wish featuring select Natlan characters.
Exploring eastern Snezhnaya involves visiting two cities via train. The subterranean city of Novokitezhgrad is the primary source of Kresnik Kristall, while Old Kitezhgrad is the first city built by the White Tsar. Players can utilize new Pure Ice creations and two types of Elemental Shotguns to counter the threat of contaminated Kresnik Kristall veins and uncover secrets bound to the region's past.
At the center of the new hub story are Danica and Mitya, who get swept up in unexpected events while carrying out their respective duties. In Novokitezhgrad, a colossal sea creature also makes an appearance.
In the limited-time event unlocked by progressing through the Archon Quest, players join allies from various nations to rescue wounded soldiers, deliver critical intelligence, and undertake special assignments. These activities help lower the calamity's threat level, granting participation rewards such as Primogems and character development materials. A reward allowing players to choose and invite one designated 4-star character to their party is also provided.
Additionally, a Snezhnaya photography event and a Natlan block-breaking event will take place. In 'A World of Starry Seas,' players can obtain a new masquerade-themed lobby and a 4-star outfit. Features including components and assets will also be added to the Stage Editor to assist in creation.
