Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is the latest entry in Level-5's flagship franchise, the Professor Layton series. Chronologically, it is set one year after the events of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. The story begins when Luke, who is living in America due to family circumstances, sends a letter to Professor Layton, reuniting the duo as they dive into a new mystery.
The game is set in the American city of Steam Bison. Powered by the advancement of steam engines, it has grown into a city that surpasses even London, setting the stage for Professor Layton and Luke's new adventure following a mysterious incident. Players will explore the city, converse with residents to gather clues, and solve a variety of puzzles to uncover the truth behind the case. The puzzles are created by QuizKnock, a Japanese knowledge entertainment group, and the game will feature the largest number of puzzles in the series' history.
Level-5 stated that it is currently putting the finishing touches on the game ahead of its launch and plans to reveal additional details and news soon. Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is scheduled to release on December 10 for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 1, and 2.
