Gorilla Studio officially launched its roguelike aerial shooter Survivor: Ace on Google Play and the Apple App Store on October 23. Combining one-handed controls, bullet-hell dodging, and random skill selection, the game offers over 100 build combinations.
Survivor: Ace is the official sequel to Survivor.io. Developer Gorilla Studio has previously created titles such as Archero, Archero 2, and Capybara Go! This new game combines aerial shooter boss fights and bullet-hell dodging with roguelike progression and build customization.
Players can combine and upgrade 11 animal pilots and 9 fighter aircraft. Characters include Nyango the cat, Olla the dog, Firetail the fox, and Seolmong the bear, with each pilot and fighter possessing their own exclusive skills. Progression mechanics include equipment, weapons, talents, research, chips, and support aircraft.
Each battle takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Played vertically with one hand, lifting a finger from the screen slows down the action, allowing players to weave through bullet-hell patterns. While attacks feature auto-aiming, dodging bullet patterns and choosing skills based on the situation require manual player judgment.
Upon leveling up, players choose one of three randomly presented choices. Every three skill levels unlock key enhancements, and players can utilize skill upgrades and battle supplies as they progress through normal monsters, elite monsters, and ultimately challenge bosses.
The lore takes place in a world where a zombie virus has spread to the skies, cutting off cities and survivor outposts. With airborne machinery and creatures infected and turned into swarms of mechanical zombies, animal pilots embark on a "Sky Rescue Operation" to save humanity.
For the first 7 days following launch, in-game items and currency will be distributed for free. Limited-time events and dungeon content will also be introduced sequentially. The "Base Departure" event, starting on day 3 of launch and running for 28 days, offers rewards such as the fighter plane "Phantom" and pilot "Firetail". The "Star Sea Fishing Season" event, held for 10 days starting on day 8 of launch, features rewards like the fighter plane "Nightblade" and pilot "Seolmong".
The permanent dungeon "Meteor Bombardment" becomes accessible after clearing Main Stage 12-10. Players destroy meteorites amidst an out-of-control meteor storm to earn gold.
A representative from Gorilla Studio stated, "We hope players directly experience the thrill of intense aerial combat with just one finger, alongside the fun of ever-changing skill combinations."
