Pearl Abyss released a preview video on October 21 for 'Charting the Unknown,' the first downloadable content (DLC) for 'Crimson Desert Enhanced.' 'Charting the Unknown' will launch simultaneously worldwide on October 30.
The preview video features new content added in the DLC, including ocean sailing, underwater exploration, character relationships, facility management, and expanded housing. The story continues as Kliff, Demian, and Oongka, who saved 'Pywel' after fierce battles, set out to find their own paths and encounter new characters.
This DLC opens Pywel's ocean as a new stage for exploration. Players can gather resources to build ships and sail the open sea on customized vessels. By defeating hostile forces on islands discovered during their voyage and pioneering strongholds alongside their Greymane companions, players can earn rewards. Underwater, players can use self-crafted diving suits and newly added underwater mounts to search for sunken ruins, treasure, and resources.
A character relationship system is also introduced. Kliff, Oongka, and Demian can build trust with specific characters to develop romantic relationships or get married. Characters who become close will visit the Greymane Camp to spend time together.
Liberated strongholds are directly managed and operated by the player. Players can lease select facilities across Pywel, assign companions and equipment, and choose goods to sell along with operational strategies to accumulate wealth. Housing has expanded to include interior decoration, structural placement such as walls and windows, and basic home layout design. Upon liberating certain castles, players can decorate the interior and use it as a residence.
Combat content will feature new challenges where players face powerful bosses across Pywel one after another. Players can test their combat skills and new strategies, defeating bosses to earn rewards.
Pearl Abyss Development Producer Jo Yong-hyun said, "The adventure of Crimson Desert Enhanced expands beyond the land and into the seas of Pywel." He added, "We hope players will discover new adventures and forge new stories through newly introduced content, including ocean exploration, romance, management, and upgraded housing."
Pre-orders for 'Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown' are currently underway on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. All players who complete a pre-order will receive the in-game items 'Unknown Explorer's Diving Suit' (Kliff, Oongka) and 'Unknown Explorer's Lightweight Diving Suit' (Demian).
