Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed the gameplay trailer today (Oct. 11) for Roger Jr., scheduled to release as a Season 3 DLC character for its flagship fighting game, Tekken 8.
Roger Jr. is the son of Roger, the military kangaroo introduced in Tekken 2. In practice, the mother kangaroo—who has been active since Tekken 2—does the actual fighting, while Roger Jr. mimics her movements from inside her pouch. The trailer showcases his signature mix of pro wrestling, boxing, and unorthodox moves utilizing his tail as a pivot. Unlike the generally more serious tone of other Tekken characters, cartoonish flourishes stand out—such as rapidly kicking in midair to extend air time or landing an uppercut during his Rage Art that sends opponents flying all the way to the moon. In particular, the latter half of the trailer reveals the continuation of a parody of a viral video—where he held Leroy's pet dog, Sugar, in a headlock during his initial reveal and was slapped by Leroy—adding a fun touch for fans.
Early access for Roger Jr. begins on Thursday, November 12, with his official release for all players confirmed for Tuesday, November 17. In addition to his default appearance wearing boxing gloves and trunks, a variety of preset costumes will be added, including a resort-style shirt with sunglasses and original boxing gloves.
Meanwhile, at the end of the video, a surprise look at the 3D model for the final Season 3 DLC character, Yujiro Hanma, was revealed. With his iconic red hair, muscle mass, and signature pose performing a full split between two chairs faithfully recreated, anticipation is high to see how Yujiro Hanma's overwhelming violence will translate into gameplay.
The trailer for Yujiro Hanma, who will cap off Season 3, is scheduled to be unveiled on stage at the Tekken World Tour Finals 2026 on January 17, 2027.
