SNK will introduce Tekken 8's new character, Reina, as a Season 3 DLC fighter for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (hereafter Fatal Fury: CotW). According to an official announcement on October 10, Reina is scheduled to be officially updated in December.
In a 38-second collaboration teaser video reported by Inven on October 8, Rock Howard scanning his surroundings alongside Nightmare Geese watching him caught viewers' attention against the backdrop of Tekken 8's Colosseum theme music. Toward the end of the video, a silhouette of a mysterious figure brushed past Rock and vanished into an alleyway.
At the time, speculation arose over whether the distinct short bob silhouette belonged to Reina, but SNK did not reveal her identity. This official announcement confirmed that the figure is indeed Reina while also unveiling her December release schedule. Along with the announcement, SNK released an additional collaboration teaser video featuring Reina front and center.
Reina is a character who first debuted in Tekken 8. According to SNK's lore, she is a student at Mishima Polytechnical School who decides to enter the KOF tournament after visiting South Town by chance. SNK explained that they refined her gameplay by blending the Tekken series' signature fast and aggressive combat style with Fatal Fury: CotW's unique REV System.
Reina is the final entrant in the seven-character DLC lineup added throughout Season 3. Previously, Rick Strowd, Duck King, and Kim Kaphwan were released; Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji from Tokyo Revengers join sequentially in October, Laocorn in November, and finally Reina in December.
This is not the first crossover between the two franchises. In the past, Fatal Fury's iconic villain Geese Howard joined Tekken 7 as a guest character, receiving an enthusiastic response from fans.
