XLGAMES has released a developer video for its open-world action MMORPG ArcheAge Chronicles. In the video, the studio introduced four currently implemented classes, key content features, the business model (BM), and plans beyond Early Access.
According to Executive Producer Yongjin Ham, who appeared in the video, the current development build features four classes: 'Battlerage', 'Archery', 'Sorcery', and 'Defense'. Combat requires players to observe enemy movements to judge the timing of dodges, parries, and attacks directly. The development team is also preparing content such as glider flight, underwater exploration, housing, life skills and crafting, and trading.
Producer Ham described the game's overall direction as "a game that places strong emphasis not only on competition, but also on exploration and cooperation." He added, "Our goal is to naturally offer the joy of exploring and discovering the world on your own, alongside the experience of meeting other players to help one another and take on challenges together."
ArcheAge Chronicles will showcase a playable demo during Steam Next Fest: October 2026, running from October 20 to 27 (KST). The demo will introduce content from the previous network test alongside new dungeons and PvP for the first time, and players can participate using a Steam account without needing to submit a separate application.
The service will adopt a Buy-to-Play model. XLGAMES plans not to operate an in-game paid store at the launch of Early Access, setting a clear path where character progression and competitive edge must be earned through active gameplay.
Producer Ham explained that P2W (pay-to-win) systems were not considered from the initial design stage and that this policy will be maintained. Optional purchases reviewed after Early Access will focus on additional content, customization, and convenience features, while strictly excluding P2W items. If an in-game store is introduced in the future, XLGAMES plans to reveal the schedule and item listings to players in advance.
The video can be viewed on the official ArcheAge Chronicles YouTube channel and other platforms. XLGAMES plans to continue sharing its development progress and major decisions with players moving forward.
