An era when the Old Gods ruled Azeroth at the height of their power is arriving. The new expansion, 'Reign of the Black Empire,' set to release on October 21, 2026, features a war between the Old Gods and the Titan-forged armies. Players will build their own strategies using the powerful abilities of the Old Gods and the new 'Assemble' keyword.
Inven introduces the Legendary Mage spell 'Discs of Norgannon'. This card gathers all spells in your deck in one place and lets you choose where to draw a card from each turn. It provides a new set of options for Mages who have been waiting to see what they will draw next.
Spells from the Top of Your Deck, Minions from the Bottom!

◇ Card Name: Discs of Norgannon
◇ Class: Mage
◇ Rarity: Legendary
◇ Type: Spell - Arcane
◇ Mana: 2
◇ Effect: Move all spells in your deck to the top. Choose to draw from the top or bottom of your deck each turn.
Discs of Norgannon splits your deck into spells and non-spell cards. If your deck consists of spells and minions, the spells will gather at the top, while the minions gather at the bottom. When drawing a card at the start of your turn, selecting 'Leave Discs As Is' draws from the top, while selecting 'Move Discs' draws from the bottom.
As long as cards remain on both ends and the arrangement is maintained, you effectively get to choose between a spell or a minion each turn. While you cannot target a specific card, you can select the type of card you need. Even if it doesn't immediately draw extra cards, it increases the value of your future draws.
How does it interact with other cards? First, tutor effects that draw cards meeting specific conditions do not shuffle the entire deck by themselves. Effects that place a card on top or bottom of your deck also do not shuffle the order of the remaining cards. However, depending on the newly placed card, the type of card drawn from either end may change.
On the other hand, shuffling the entire deck removes the distinction between spells and minions. Discs of Norgannon does not re-sort spells every turn. Therefore, after the deck is shuffled, only the effect of choosing between drawing from the top or bottom remains.
A prime synergy target for this card is 'Meadowstrider'. Its Deathrattle places a 1-Cost Meadowstrider at the bottom of your deck. If that position is maintained, you can choose to draw from the bottom next turn to draw it again and play a Taunt minion for 1 Mana. If the Deathrattle triggers repeatedly, you can continue this process over and over.

A Game Changer That Will Transform Mage Deck Building?
Discs of Norgannon also presents new possibilities during the deck-building phase. This involves building around spells while running only a small number of powerful Legendary minions. Once the Discs gather spells at the top, drawing from the bottom makes it easy to access key minions.
Prime candidates include 'Jailhouse Manastorm,' 'Archmage Kalec,' and 'Timelooper Toki'. Manastorm converts spell usage into minion development, Kalec buffs spells in your hand and deck, and Toki supplies extra spells—all cards worth utilizing in a spell-centric strategy.
By including only such minions, whatever you draw from the bottom will advance your deck's core strategy. Once you secure the necessary minions, you can switch to drawing from the top to supply spells. Instead of a deck that runs no minions at all, we can look forward to a new Spell Mage archetype that combines a small number of Legendary minions with a heavy density of spells.
Situational play also becomes possible. You can draw from the bottom when key minions are needed, or draw from the top when you need spells to synergize with minions in hand. You can control the direction of your draws whether searching for removal spells or setting up for the next combo.
Of course, this effect does not let you directly select the exact Legendary minion you want. The more minions you include, the weaker your ability to target a specific minion becomes. Choosing which minions and spells to run and in what quantities will be a key challenge when building decks that utilize the Discs.

Immediate Tempo Loss and Finding the Discs Remain Challenges
The biggest downside is the immediate setback upon playing it. Spending 2 Mana and a card neither replenishes your hand nor impacts the board state. You can only recover the invested resources by accumulating value through subsequent draws. In matches where the opponent pressures aggressively from the early game, you may not even have the leeway to play the Discs.
Whether you can draw the Discs on time is another issue. As a Legendary card, you can only include a single copy in your deck, and drawing it late reduces your opportunities to manipulate your draws. If you build a deck centered on the effect of the Discs, you must also plan how to navigate games where you fail to draw it.
Discs of Norgannon is a highly strategic card. While the tempo loss against fast-paced decks poses a heavy burden, given enough time, it can help bridge your key minions and spells together. It remains to be seen whether this unique draw manipulation ability will usher in a new deck-building paradigm for Mages.
