Battlestate Games released a major update for Escape from Tarkov: Arena on September 18. The update introduces a round-based economy system to the 5v5 mode 'BlastGang' and kicks off Season 3, featuring over 60 new rewards.
BlastGang is a 5v5 mode played across medium and large maps. The attacking team must plant an explosive device, while the defending team must prevent the plant or defuse the device before it detonates. In this overhaul, existing classes have been removed, and all players start matches with basic equipment. Players can purchase weapons, armor, and consumables prior to each round.
Before a match, players can configure their personal store, starting gear, and weapon modification presets. Key elements of the original game, such as realistic ballistics, detailed armor and damage systems, and weapon customization, remain intact.
In-game currency is awarded at the end of each round and can also be earned by planting or defusing explosive devices and eliminating opponents. The amount awarded varies based on the type of weapon used. Teams on a losing streak receive bonus rewards, and players who lack the currency to purchase gear can request financial assistance from teammates.
The in-game store supports quick purchasing via hotkeys and full refunds for unused items. The weapon modification economy is designed to balance the cost and efficiency of each part, preventing a single preset from dominating player choices.
Season 3, titled 'Morbus Imperium,' features over 60 new rewards, including weapons, gear, and tactical clothing. A new location, 'LABS Replica,' has also been added.
The new tactical map 'The Lab' consists of three floors and 56 points of interest. Certain interactive elements and easter eggs scattered across the map unlock secret locations that offer additional rewards. Additionally, the inventory and progression system for 'Ref' have been revamped, and the 'DevTac Ronin' modular helmet—which allows players to swap head and face armor plates—has been added.
