SOOP will host the quarterfinals of 'Google Play ASL Season 22' starting September 21.
'Google Play ASL Season 22' is SOOP's original esports league played on Blizzard Entertainment's RTS game StarCraft®: Remastered. Now in its 11th year, ASL features Google Play as its official sponsor once again this season.
In the Round of 16 that began on September 7, Lee Jae-ho (T), Kim Min-chul (Z), Lee Young-han (Z), and Kim Jung-woo (Z) secured their spots in the quarterfinals. Joining the previously qualified Park Sang-hyeon (Z), Yoo Young-jin (T), Shin Sang-moon (T), and Lee Jae-dong (Z), a total of eight players will advance to the tournament bracket. By race, three Terran players and five Zerg players survived, while all Protoss players were eliminated.
The first quarterfinal match will take place on September 21 at 7:00 PM between Lee Young-han and Yoo Young-jin. On September 22 at 7:00 PM, Lee Jae-ho will face Kim Jung-woo. On September 28 at 7:00 PM, a Zerg mirror match between Park Sang-hyeon and Lee Jae-dong will be held, followed by Shin Sang-moon against Kim Min-chul on September 29 at 7:00 PM for the final spot in the semifinals.
Matches will be played in a best-of-five single-elimination tournament format. The first-place finisher from each Round of 16 group will choose the map for the first set, after which the loser of the previous set will decide the next map. The four quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinals taking place on October 5 and 6.
All main tournament matches will take place at FreecUp Studio in Daechi-dong, Seoul. Information regarding the tournament, including live broadcasts and VODs, can be found on the official SOOP ASL channel and the SOOP Esports page.
