Rockstar Games has issued an official statement regarding the recent series of leaked GTA 6 gameplay videos online.

Over the past week, more than 10 videos showing GTA 6 gameplay were released online. The group behind the leaks claimed the act was intended to raise awareness about the demise of physical media and related game ownership issues. However, the leakers also urged users to pay cryptocurrency to vote on which additional videos to release, leading to criticism that the leak was driven by financial gain.

Amidst this situation, Rockstar Games released an official statement via social media on August 26. In the statement, Rockstar expressed, "We know many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding what has transpired over the past week," adding, "Having gameplay footage of GTA 6 leaked in this manner has been heartbreaking for our team." They also noted, "This is certainly not how we wanted to introduce the game to everyone who has been waiting so patiently."

Stating that the game is nearly finished, Rockstar added, "We sincerely apologize that it has taken so long to get to the finish line, share more details, reveal official gameplay, and answer all the questions the community has been asking."

Rockstar also addressed the possibility that the leak could affect the experience for some players. "It is unfortunate that spoilers may impact the experience we intended," the studio stated, adding, "We ask for your patience just a little longer and hope you will experience the game for yourselves on November 19."

Rockstar Games is scheduled to premiere a video offering a deeper look at GTA 6 via Netflix on August 28 (KST). While preparing for this took longer than expected, the company stated, "As with everything we do, we know we must exceed your expectations," promising, "We will deliver a result that meets the standard you expect and deserve."

Finally, Rockstar Games expressed its gratitude to the community for sending messages of support over the past week, stating, "Every word from you meant more than you know. Ultimately, we are making this game for you. Without you, we wouldn't have the opportunity to create it."

Meanwhile, GTA 6 is set to launch on PS5 and XSX|S on November 19, 2026. Ahead of its release, "GTA 6: An Extended Look," a video revealing details about the game, will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 28 at 4:00 AM KST.
