KT Head Coach Jihoon Lee: "We won't take a break until the end of regular season."

On July 23rd (KST), KT Rolster defeated Afreeca Freecs in the first match of 35th day of 2017 LCK Summer Split. KT Rolster's head coach, Jihoon Lee, was interviewed on air by OGN after the match for his comment.

Coach Lee was happy that they won today's match, but it will only be the beginning of a long road for KT Rolster players. "We might be able to end the regular season at first place if we win all remaining matches, so we won't take a break until the end of regular season. Today's win is very important. We could have done better in Game 2, but since AFs was playing very well, I'm content that we won in the end."

When asked about Deft's Tristana pick and his aggressive plays, Coach Lee revealed how he asked Deft to play more aggressively. "Deft has been playing defensively after getting caught a few times recently. I told him to be more aggressive. Doing forward jumps is actually something that I've encouraged him to do. Although he might get caught more easily, playing with confidence will get him back in the shape that he was in while he was at LPL. I personally feel relieved that he played more aggressively today."

However, he wasn't happy at all with how the players lost Game 2. "I need to scold them. They were terrible. (Laughs) They had the initiative in the beginning, but they got reckless and fought terribly. Not to mention how they charged in with a composition that's good at countering their moves... Smeb later told me that he blanked out. We lost the game because of overextending. We'll have to do some feedback on that. I think we made up for it somewhat in Game 3 though. We won't make the same mistake next time."

KT's next match will be played with a new patch, and although they won't have much time to prepare for the new patch, Coach Lee isn't worried too much. "Our players have been playing solo queues dilligently, and other teams also have to bear with new patches. Our match schedules usually didn't give us much time to prepare for new patches, but I'm not too worried because we are well-prepared. If we can play out the match like the games that we've won today, I think we can win regardless of the patch."

Finally, Coach Lee wrapped up the interview with how he feels going up against SSG for the next match. "Samsung Galaxy's head coach Edgar is a friend of mine, so we had a chat after SSG lost against MVP. We often joke how they need to win this split and we need to get to the finals for us to go to the Worlds together, but a rival is a rival, and their loss is our gain. I think we'll be set on our way to being first if we defeat SSG. It will be the most importantly matchup of this split."
