Belgian indie developer Happy Volcano officially released its cozy cyberpunk diorama construction game, 'Midnight Moments,' on Steam on the 30th.
'Midnight Moments' is a sandbox-style construction game that focuses on relaxing space decoration rather than chasing goals or perfect layouts. With no time limits or failure conditions, the game is designed for players to enjoy the process of building their own spaces and watching them evolve at their own pace.
In the game, players can freely construct rain-slicked back alleys, apartment buildings with glowing windows, and quiet neighborhood streets. The gameplay involves stacking buildings, weaving alleys between them, decorating rooftops, and placing props and citizen characters to create a complete, cohesive scene. Players can also freely adjust the scale, ranging from a single small shop to an entire city block.
The game features a signature aesthetic of rain falling over neon-lit streets, and players can zoom in to appreciate the finer details. Because it lacks specific goals or quests, it is being marketed as a perfect title for casual play while listening to music or podcasts.
Happy Volcano is an indie studio known for developing titles such as 'You Suck at Parking,' 'Modulus: Factory Automation,' and 'The Almost Gone.' Beyond 'Midnight Moments,' the studio is reportedly working on several other projects in parallel with small team units.
