Samsung Electronics held its 'Galaxy Unpacked 2026' event at Old Billingsgate in London on the 22nd (local time), officially unveiling three next-generation foldable smartphones. The new lineup includes the 'Galaxy Z Fold8,' optimized for content immersion; the 'Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra,' designed for maximum productivity; and the 'Galaxy Z Flip8,' which focuses on personalization and AI experiences.

TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, "As AI evolves, mobile devices will become the closest touchpoint to users, understanding them best and integrating seamlessly into their daily lives. The new Galaxy Z series represents our most refined foldable products yet, set to elevate the mobile experience and usher in the next era of intelligence."

The standout of the new lineup is the 'Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra,' the first in the foldable series to carry the 'Ultra' moniker. Featuring a large 8-inch (203.1mm) display, the Ultra model maximizes portability with a thickness of just 4.1mm when unfolded and a weight of 215g. In terms of performance, it is powered by the 'Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (Gen 5)' mobile platform, ensuring powerful multitasking and AI processing capabilities. It also features a large 5kmAh battery and, for the first time in the Z series, supports up to 45W fast charging and a dual-pass charging system. The camera setup includes a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens, creating a professional-grade content creation environment.

The 'Galaxy Z Fold8' also unveiled today features a 7.6-inch (193.2mm) main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, significantly reducing wasted space during video playback. It is the lightest Fold to date at 201g, equipped with a 4800mAh battery and a 50MP dual-camera system. The 'Galaxy Z Flip8,' which emphasizes a compact design, boasts a weight of 180g and a thickness of 6.1mm, and is powered by the Exynos 2600 AP. Its cover display, 'Flex Window,' has been redesigned with an AI-centric interface, allowing users to control key functions without unfolding the device.

Hardware and software innovations were also highlighted. Samsung introduced 'Flex Titanium' technology, which combines a titanium alloy film with a reinforced titanium plate to significantly reduce screen creases and enhance durability. Furthermore, through a collaboration with Google, the devices feature 'Gemini Intelligence,' enabling an agent-like AI experience that can automatically execute over 40 apps for tasks such as food delivery, reservations, and shopping. Compatibility with iOS has also been improved, with the Quick Share feature now supporting seamless file transfers with Apple AirDrop.

The new product lineup will be available for pre-order in Korea from July 28 to August 3, with an official global launch in major markets, including Korea, on August 7.
