South Korean cultural content company DAEWON MEDIA (CEOs Jung Wook, Jung Dong-hoon) announced that it will release the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch software 'Culdcept BEGINS' on July 16, in collaboration with Neos.

Since its inception in 1997 by OmiyaSoft, the 'Culdcept' series has expanded across various platforms, surpassing 1 million units in cumulative sales (including downloads). The series has thrived for over 25 years, built on a game system that combines the simplicity of a board game with the strategic depth of a card game.
As the first new entry in the series in a decade, 'Culdcept BEGINS' features a complete redesign of its cards, maps, and world-building, all supervised by OmiyaSoft. Character and creature designs were handled by Satoshi Matsuura, and the game includes over 400 types of cards. The UI has also been redesigned to ensure accessibility for both long-time fans and newcomers to the series.
The game features an original story that serves as a prequel to the first 'Culdcept' title. It follows Kamur, a boy who transfers to the Royal Sept Academia and joins the Royal Cepter Regiment to face a continental crisis. A tutorial is provided at the beginning of the story mode, allowing players new to the series to enjoy the game without difficulty.
The game supports a single-player story mode as well as a versus mode for practicing against COM Cepters (AI). For online play, new features include the ability to create and join match rooms, as well as a 'Quick Match' function to easily find opponents.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition supports local wireless communication and mouse controls. Through local communication, up to four players can compete even if they do not own a copy of 'Culdcept BEGINS,' using six pre-set books (decks) and recommended maps.
A limited-edition special package will be released alongside the standard edition. The special edition includes a physical package of 'Culdcept The First' for Nintendo Switch, a 'Culdcept BEGINS' complete card book, a soundtrack CD, and a download code, all housed in a limited-edition special box.
Additionally, four types of early-purchase bonus DLC will be distributed for use in-game. Detailed instructions on how to obtain them can be found on the official information page.
Official original merchandise featuring the game's world and card art will also be sold in Korea; details regarding retailers and the product lineup will be announced later via the Daewon Shop and other channels. Please note that some products may not be available depending on local circumstances. The standard and limited-edition packages of 'Culdcept BEGINS' will be available starting July 16 at the Daewon Shop and various online game retailers.
