LZ Director, Hirai: "I think Longzhu has now become a top 3 team in the LCK."

Hirai shares his opinion on the current meta and the atmosphere of the team house

On July 11th(KST), 'Longzhu Gaming' took down the team returning from 'Rift Rivals', 'MVP'. With dominating performance from GorillA's Rakan and Khan's Jax, LZ made a reverse sweep. As the series came to an end, and the MVP players: GorillA and Khan interviewed, the director of LZ, Hirai, was called for an interview over the phone with OGN.

How do you feel after that victory?

I grew nervous because my team made lots of mistakes on the 1st set. But we still won the series, and it feels good.

What do you think was the problem in the 1st set?

I think the remake of the 1st game really put stress into the players' mentality. It really showed in their plays. But in the 2nd and 3rd set, I made sure that problem didn't repeat itself.

What do you think of 'Galio'?

Even after the nerf, Galio is still a useful champion. And because of that, we are still practicing him in our scrims.

How do you rate Kog'Maw?

We are still preparing for it. Our ADC, PraY, is a very flexible player that can play many champions. And in the game against MVP, I always thought of the possibility of a Kog'Maw pick. They flew to Taiwan for the 'Rift Rivals' and absorbed the meta from the other regions. I think Kog'Maw is a very solid pick.

All of your players have very high 'Solo Queue MMR'.

The players are actually competing against one another... Every player gets irritated when the other teammates are doing better than them. So they say, "One more game, one more!" and constantly play to climb higher. But the Solo Queue MMR is not used to measure the players' individual skills. They're always excited and enjoying their time, and the atmosphere of the team house is good. But they do get a little too rowdy sometimes(laughs).

Due to the current success of the team, did your expectations for them grow? What kind of result are you expecting from the team?

On the last interview, I mentioned that I might find out if Longzhu has the potentials of becoming a top 3 team in the LCK when the 1st round ends. And now, I believe they are.

One last word for the fans?

Thank you for always cheering for us. The more you cheer, the more excited our players get and perform. We will do our best, so please, cheer for us.
