Brazilian indie developer Statera Studio announced on the 10th the official reveal of its new high-speed action roguelite, Soul of the Garden, via Steam. Statera Studio is known for developing the internationally acclaimed, The Game Awards-nominated fighting game Pocket Bravery.
Soul of the Garden is a new action roguelite centered on fast-paced action, stylish combat, a creative combo system, and deep build customization. It features a unique gameplay loop where players fight using ever-changing builds by combining flashy combos, elemental magic, allies, and strikers.
In Soul of the Garden, players control four resurrected Flower Princesses on a journey to stop the corruption of the world spread by a mysterious entity known as Mandragora. Each expedition leads through procedurally generated biomes, where players face countless enemies, elite encounters, and powerful bosses. New abilities, elemental enhancements, and permanent progression elements encourage players to constantly experiment with new combat styles.
Unlike traditional roguelites, Soul of the Garden places combat at the heart of the experience. In each run, players can unlock new special skills, combine six elemental attributes, recruit allies, and summon powerful strikers. Furthermore, by utilizing an advanced cancel system inspired by character action and fighting games, players can seamlessly chain ground and aerial combos to unleash stylish, continuous attacks.
Every run presents meaningful choices. While dozens of abilities, allies, summons, and upgrades are available, the options obtainable in a single run are limited. Consequently, players are encouraged to experiment with new builds every time they enter a portal. A permanent progression system between runs further expands customization options, ensuring the fun of discovering new combinations remains fresh.
Soul of the Garden creates a unique identity by combining a vibrant fantasy world with explosive action. Charming heroes unleash powerful attacks amidst spectacular combat visuals. The game draws inspiration from titles such as Hades II, BlazBlue Entropy Effect, Spiritfall, Devil May Cry, and Hollow Knight, aiming to provide satisfying combat depth without sacrificing accessibility.
Statera Studio is dedicated to creating gaming experiences with deep mechanics and a strong visual identity. With Soul of the Garden, the studio plans to extend its expertise in responsive combat, expressive gameplay, and polished mechanics into the action roguelite genre.
