CCP Games announced on the 10th the release of 'EVE Online: Cradle of War,' the latest expansion for its sci-fi space MMORPG, EVE Online.
Launched amidst rising tensions between the great empires of New Eden, this expansion marks the beginning of the 'Theaters of War' trilogy. It grants Capsuleers greater influence, allowing them to directly shape the future of imperial warfare and leave a permanent mark on the universe of New Eden.
At the heart of the expansion is the new Military Operations system, designed to connect the individual activities of thousands of Capsuleers into a single, massive war effort where every action has tangible consequences. Whether players focus on frontline combat, logistics, resource mining, or intelligence gathering, every contribution matters. The results of these operations can lead to lasting changes across New Eden, such as shifting infrastructure or the opening of new stargate connections.
Bergur Finnbogason, Creative Director of EVE Online, stated that this expansion broadens the opportunities for all Capsuleers to leave their mark on New Eden. Military Operations provide diverse ways to engage in war, while a new beginner-friendly, non-PVP system helps new Capsuleers adapt to the game before diving into the broader conflict.
From beginners to veteran fleets, every player can choose a faction, stir up chaos, and turn the tide of battle. EVE Online: Cradle of War aims to lower the barrier to entry for imperial warfare while maintaining the game's signature strategic scale and depth. The expansion also introduces a variety of new content alongside these military campaigns.
● Exordium: This is EVE Online's first shared, non-PVP beginner zone. New players can learn the game together, build confidence, meet mentors, and participate in beginner-friendly military campaign objectives before joining the full-scale wars across New Eden.
● Eight New Ships: Four new Tech II Command Carriers are being added, offering new capital-class support roles such as Command Bursts, battlefield control, and fleet support in large-scale engagements. Additionally, four new Navy Destroyers are introduced; these are designed to be affordable and highly mobile, making it easier for both new and veteran Capsuleers to participate in PvE, PVP, and Faction Warfare.
● Titles and Achievements: Capsuleers can now track their progress and goal completion to unlock various Titles. These serve as visual identifiers of a player's identity throughout New Eden, showcasing their achievements, reputation, and roles to others.
● 'Visions of Greatness' Epic Arc: Through surreal simulations representing each empire, players can experience four of the most significant events in the history of New Eden. New Capsuleers can gain insight into the identity and values of each faction, while veteran Capsuleers can experience legendary events firsthand.
● Theaters of War Dashboard: A new integrated dashboard allows players to view military campaign objectives, real-time progress, personal contributions, Faction Warfare activities, pirate outposts, and other war-related systems at a glance.
With Cradle of War, imperial warfare is no longer the exclusive domain of frontline combat pilots. Builders, miners, industrialists, mission runners, fleet commanders, and new Capsuleers alike can now participate in the wars of New Eden in meaningful ways.
Every completed objective, every resource delivered, and every battle won contributes to the outcome of the military campaign. As the first chapter of the 'Theaters of War' trilogy, Cradle of War sets the stage for the evolution of large-scale conflict and the lasting impact that Capsuleers' choices will have on New Eden.
EVE Online is free to play on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and further details regarding this expansion can be found on the official website.
