The release date for 'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis,' a highly anticipated remake of the original Tomb Raider, has been set for February 12, 2027. It has also been confirmed for release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Crystal Dynamics unveiled 'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis,' a title being co-developed with Flying Wild Hog, during the State of Play event on the 3rd. The game is a remake of the original 1996 'Tomb Raider,' which established the foundation for the action-adventure genre. It features modern reconstructions of the original settings, ranging from the Lost Valley in Peru and crumbling ruins in Greece to the deserts of Egypt and a mythic island in the Mediterranean.
Gameplay has also been refined while maintaining the core structure and story of the original. Notably, while the original featured a self-contained structure where solving one room led to the next, this version loosely connects multiple spaces, allowing for diverse paths and exploration. The developers have worked to preserve the essence of the original, and the trailer confirms the return of the iconic T-Rex.
The game was originally slated for a 2026 release but was pushed back to early 2027. It will be available on Steam, PS5, XSX|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. In addition to 'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis,' its first new entry in eight years, Crystal Dynamics is also preparing the next mainline title, 'Tomb Raider: Catalyst,' which will feature Lara in Northern India.
