Ubisoft has announced the return of the Rayman franchise with 'Rayman Legends Retold,' a remake of the 2013 platformer Rayman Legends.
Ubisoft announced its new title, 'Rayman Legends Retold,' during Sony's State of Play event on the 3rd. Based on the 2013 original, Rayman Legends, this is the first main series entry to be released in about a decade.
The core change in this version is visual. The graphics have been reimagined in a 3D style, moving away from the original's hand-drawn 2D aesthetic. However, the gameplay retains the same side-scrolling mechanics as the original. The game is reportedly built on Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, which was used for Star Wars Outlaws.
There are also notable changes to the story and content. While many existing stages return, a brand-new sixth world has been added.
Development is led by Ubisoft Montpellier, the creators of the original, with support from Ubisoft Milan. Although revealed at State of Play, as a third-party Ubisoft title, it will launch simultaneously on October 1st for PS5, XSX|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The PC version will be available via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
