'STARDUST: Wish of Witch,' a turn-based SRPG developed by the domestic indie developer Kniv Studio, officially launched on Steam on the 29th.
'STARDUST: Wish of Witch' combines the tactical combat structure of classic SRPGs with a card-based system and cinematic presentation. Set in a fantasy world rendered in pixel art, the game follows an adventure centered on stars and destiny, featuring a story of growth alongside unique characters.
Players will experience a journey centered on 'Star,' a spirited warrior, and 'Yu,' a mage who has been their friend since childhood. As they encounter various characters and events, players will unravel the secrets of the world and the story woven into their destiny.
The game's most notable feature is the integration of a card system into traditional SRPG combat. Players can devise various tactics using cards, while counterattacks and combo systems create more dynamic turn-based battles. The development team explained that they designed the game to be accessible to both genre veterans and newcomers to SRPGs.
The visuals are also a key strength. Through detailed pixel art, 2D animation, and cutscene-focused cinematic direction, the game emphasizes the characters' emotional arcs and narrative progression. The developers stated that they put significant effort into creating a 'living, breathing pixel world.'
Kniv Studio is an indie studio founded with the goal of developing story-driven games. With its flagship title, 'STARDUST: Wish of Witch,' the studio offers a narrative-driven strategy RPG experience that highlights both visual presentation and game systems. 'STARDUST: Wish of Witch' is currently available for purchase on Steam, and a new launch trailer has been released to commemorate the occasion.
