Filming for the movie 'Sonic the Hedgehog 4' has officially wrapped. Director Jeff Fowler expressed his confidence, calling it "the best Sonic movie we've made yet."
Fowler recently shared an image from the set on social media with the caption, "Wrap!" He added, "It’s been an incredible journey with an amazing cast, crew, and a very fast hedgehog."

This installment is highly likely to connect directly to the post-credits scene of the previous film, 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3.' That scene featured a swarm of Metal Sonic units attacking Sonic, only for Amy Rose to appear and defeat them with her massive hammer.
Metal Sonic is one of the most popular villains in the original game series. Created by Dr. Eggman based on Sonic's data, the robot possesses the same high-speed movement capabilities as Sonic. It holds a special place in the series, not just as a robotic enemy, but as a being designed to be the "perfect copy of Sonic."
Metal Sonic has gained immense popularity through its recurring appearances in various titles, including the original 'Sonic the Hedgehog 4' game. With its cold, mechanical aesthetic and design that contrasts with Sonic, it has long been established as a signature rival character. There is even speculation that multiple Metal Sonic units may appear in this film.
Amy Rose is also a core character in the Sonic series. Known in the games for her bright, energetic personality and her 'Piko Piko Hammer,' she has recently evolved from a supporting character into an independent action hero. It is widely expected that the film will follow a similar trajectory for her character.

The film franchise itself has maintained a very stable track record. While the first movie underwent a complete character design overhaul following pre-release controversy, it went on to become a box-office success through positive word-of-mouth. The sequels have continued to expand the fanbase by introducing popular characters like Knuckles and Shadow, earning the series a reputation as one of the most successful video game adaptations to date.
'Sonic the Hedgehog 4' is scheduled for release in 2027.
