Arc System Works Asia Branch has announced that a major free update, 'Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeon Boost,' will be released for the Korean version of Taito's action game 'Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeon' on August 20, 2026.

This update will be rolled out simultaneously across all supported platforms, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Existing owners can upgrade to the new version, which includes additional content and balance adjustments, at no extra cost.

The most significant change in this update is the addition of 'Bobblun,' the twin brother of the protagonist, Bubblun. Bobblun appears as an assistant to help Bubblun on his adventure, guiding him to special 'Bonus Gates.' Upon passing through a gate, players can choose from various stages to enhance their strategy: stages that offer large amounts of treasure and items, stages that allow players to defeat enemies at once to build combos, or 'Skip Gates' that allow players to bypass floors.

The item acquisition system has also been significantly enhanced. The variety of drop items that aid in the adventure, including invincibility items, has been expanded, and their appearance rates have been greatly increased to heighten the thrill of dungeon exploration. Alongside these changes, overall game balance adjustments have been made to improve player engagement and satisfaction.

'Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeon' is the first title in the 40-year-old series to introduce dungeon-crawling action, where the layout changes with every attempt. The game features the fun of using bubbles as platforms to move, collecting treasure, and leveling up Bubblun, all set within diverse environments like the massive 'Castle' stage. Notably, it also includes a port of the 1997 title 'Bubble Symphony,' offering extra value to series fans.
