On April 7, 2026, NCSoft filed a criminal complaint with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station against the operator of the YouTube channel 'Youngraegi' on charges including the dissemination of false information and obstruction of business.
The YouTuber 'Youngraegi' (hereinafter 'Youngraegi') broadcasted claims that Lineage Classic neglected users of illegal programs and sanctioned users who reported such programs without any basis. He falsely claimed that legitimate users who reported illegal programs were the ones being sanctioned and isolated from accessing the game.
Internal data analysis and reviews by internal and external experts have confirmed that these claims are demonstrably false.
The rapid spread of unverified, false information to an unspecified number of people is causing immense harm to both the company and its users. Above all, it has caused significant confusion among Lineage Classic users who encountered these false claims through Youngraegi's broadcasts. It has also negatively impacted the credibility of the service and the overall operations of NC, which is dedicated to eradicating illegal programs. Furthermore, the spread of this false information has undermined the credibility of the 'Illegal Program Reporting System' currently in operation for Lineage Classic, weakening user reports and participation in campaigns, thereby severely affecting overall game operations.
Lineage Classic is continuously striving to create a smooth and stable playing environment. Since its launch, we have been focusing on active countermeasures, such as conducting user campaigns to eradicate abnormal gameplay and combat illegal programs, and have sanctioned 5,971,757 accounts across 105 instances in accordance with our operational policies. We consistently communicate the results of these measures to our users through official notices.
NC listens to diverse opinions on gameplay and operations and incorporates them into the development process. However, we intend to take firm action against the spread of false information, malicious slander, and profanity that hinder smooth service, in order to protect our game users, intellectual property (IP), and employees. We are also conducting an in-depth review with internal and external experts regarding measures against posts that use sensationalist titles and images unrelated to the actual content to lure viewers.
