Chovy on the victory over 100 Thieves: "Our bot lane did a great job getting ahead, so I was quite bored."

With RNG defeating 100 Thieves in the third match of day 8, 2022 LoL World Championship group stages, RNG and Gen.G locked in their spots in the quarterfinals of the tournament. In the following match, Gen.G also took a commanding victory over 100 Thieves. Should Gen.G defeat RNG in the last match of the day, it’ll force a tiebreaker match to determine the seeding for the quarterfinals.

Gen.G’s mid laner, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, joined Jeesun Park for a post-match interview.

Gen.G locked in their playoff spot when RNG beat 100 Thieves in the third match of the day. How do you feel about the victory that Gen.G just took over 100 Thieves?

I actually didn’t do much in this match against 100 Thieves, so the game itself wasn’t that fun.

Can you tell us why you decided to first pick Sylas? Did you expect the Viktor to be picked against you?

Sylas does have a tough laning phase against Viktor, but Sylas scales much harder into the late game, so as long as you lane well, the lane matchup doesn't matter.

KT’s support player, Life, is currently a guest commentator in the LCK broadcast, and he stated that Ruler was probably scared of the Senna-Seraphine duo. Can you confirm this is the case?

Our head coach Score is currently in quarantine, so he messaged us to change our third ban to Seraphine.

As you said, Gen.G’s bot lane got massively ahead, where Ruler’s CS doubled that of FBI’s. Did you expect an easy victory?

Yes. I thought that our bot lane were the main carries of our team composition, so I didn’t feel the need to do anything except manage side lanes. Our bot lane did a great job getting ahead, so I was quite bored.

There are four LCK teams, three LPL teams, and one LEC team in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Which team are you the most wary of?

I watched all of the group stage matches, and all the teams looked very strong. It feels like the matches could go either way, no matter which team we faced, so it’ll be important for us to focus on playing well.

Gen.G now only has the rematch against RNG in the group stage matches. Should Gen.G win, you guys will force a tiebreaker match against them. Lehends seemed confident that the team would advance as 1st place. How about you?

I’m also already thinking about playing two matches against them, and am planning to win both of them.

Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to Score to wish him a speedy recovery?

Score looked like he was on the verge of death, so I hope he survives and we get to see him again.
