Nintendo's E3 Direct 2021 started out with a bang.

Kazuya Mishima from Tekken was immediately announced as the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter. He is an antagonist throughout the series, looking for revenge and following his father's corrupt path. Kazuya has glowing red eyes and a devil side to him.

Nintendo developers noted that Kazuya has faced "many harsh battles." But Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may be his biggest one yet. Kazuya even attempted to drop Kirby off a cliff to no avail. It looks like he has a lot to learn about his new opponents.

When is Kazuya coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?

In the E3 presentation, Nintendo stated that more information on Kazuya will be coming on June 28. The Direct will be at 7 AM PST.

Until then, not much is known about Kazuya's release date or playstyle. But players were given a quick sneak peak at Kazuya's fighting game-inspired moveset.

Here are some of his move names:

  • Dragon Uppercut
  • Tombstone
  • Gates of Hell
  • Crouch Jab
  • Rising Toe Kick
  • Crouch Dash
  • Demon God Fist
  • Demon Scissors
  • Demon's Wrath

It looks like Kazuya will have a comeback mechanic similar to Sephiroth. When behind, Kazuya gains his additional devil powers, which look extremely strong. It appears that Kazuya will also have a counter that allows him to absorb energy from an opponent's attacks.

Even though most people were hoping for Chun-Li from Street Fighter, this is definitely an interesting addition to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster that will keep competitive players on their toes. Kazuya may even become the new go-to fighter for Terry mains, another classic fighting character who gains powerful moves when he reaches above 100 damage.
